Discussion: Both the victim and her son were working in the three-foot space between the loader bucket and the foundation wall. This is inherently dangerous because machine malfunction or operator error can occur. The tractor positioned on a downward slope further increased the risk in this case. The farmer told his wife to stand clear when he started to raise the bucket, but perhaps she did not hear or was unaware of the danger. All workers, supervisors, and machine operators should make sure that no one works between a powerful machine and a stationary object. This also applies to working under hydraulically-supported machine parts where workers could be injured due to machine failure, operator error, or changing conditions of the working environment.
Control the right joystick and push it forward to tilt the bucket out. Pushing backward will tilt the bucket in. To scoop, tilt it toward yourself and the bucket curls in. Tilt it away from you and the bucket curls away.

Other possible contributing factors include the characteristics of using a loader while positioned on a fairly steep downward slope. If lifted quickly, any loader momentarily shifts some weight from the rear wheels to the front wheels. The fact that this bucket moved forward at the same time also would shift more weight to the front. Brakes usually work on rear wheels only, and shifting weight to the front can cause the wheels to slip on a steep slope momentarily, even if the ground is dry. This tractor had hydraulically-controlled front brakes which appeared to be in normal operating condition after the incident.
The first tractors in the United States were introduced in the middle of the 19th century and were powered by steam. Known as traction engines, the source of the word “tractor,” these steam tractors were used for both plowing and threshing. Manufacturers of early steam tractors included Minneapolis Threshing Machine Co., J.I. Case, and Advance-Rumely. In 1892, an Iowa inventor named John Froelich built the first gasoline-powered tractor,…Continue Reading

General Motors told the Copyright Office that proponents of copyright reform mistakenly “conflate ownership of a vehicle with ownership of the underlying computer software in a vehicle.” But I’d bet most Americans make the same conflation—and Joe Sixpack might be surprised to learn GM owns a giant chunk of the Chevy sitting in his driveway.
(SPOKEN) Excavators are sometimes called Diggers. This is because their main job is to dig. Do you see how far down this bucket can go? Other trucks, like end loaders, can’t reach their buckets nearly this low. The bucket on both of these kinds of trucks can be called a shovel, just like the shovel you use to dig up dirt and sand. But an excavator’s shovel is huge and very strong. Look at the teeth on this shovel. Some excavators can dig up more than a ton in one scoop of their bucket.

John Deere has gone as far as to claim that farmers don’t own the tractors they pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for, but instead receive a “license to operate the vehicle”. They lock users into license agreements that forbid them from even looking at the software running the tractor or the signals it generates.

It’s also important to be aware of the attachments offered for each device. For example, depending on the make and model of the excavator, it may be possible to get an extended boom arm or an arm with multiple pivot points. Typically, these are most common in mini-excavators. It’s also possible to find numerous bucket attachments, including attachments that can assist with crushing, lifting, and cutting.

In 1969, John Deere followed its New Generation tractors of the 1960s with a New Generation of combines. These included the 3300, 4400, 6600, and 7700. These models were also the first to come with Quik-Tatch header mounting capabilities as standard equipment. In the 1980s, these combines were followed by the 4420, 6620, 7720, and 8820 that were essentially updated and improved versions of the previous models with larger capacity, a nicer cab, and easier maintenance and service. The 4420 was discontinued in 1984 and replaced by the 4425 combine imported from Germany, and the 6620, 7720, and 8820 received the Titan II updates.
